YM Quotes:

Youth ministry is always a challenge. Youth ministry is consistently changing. Youth ministry is regularly surprising. Youth ministry is fresh all the time. (Mark Oestreicher)

Although students need guidance from good leaders, we often take on too much of the responsibility for their knowledge about God. We want them to blindly adopt our opinions rather than work out their own understanding. Instead we must help young people learn how to think for themselves with God’s perspective as their foundation and the Word of God as their rule. (Sean Dunn)

How much are you worth? (drama, skit)

Props: R20 bill or some form of currency that is not too much, but not too little either.

                      - Everyone else on the team participate with the talk and raise your
hands. The kids will most likely follow your lead.

Speaker: (Ho1ding up a R20 bill) ask, “who would like this R20 bill?

Other team members
and kids:(the kids should raise their hands)  Raise hands

Speaker: “I am going to give this R20 to one of you, but first, let me do this…(crumple up the $20 bill and hold it in the palm of your hand) “who still wants it?

Team Members and kids: (should do it on their own, but help them by raising your hands too)  Raise hands.

Speaker: “Well, what if I do this?” (drop the $20 on the ground and start to grind it into the floor with your shoe and then pick it up)  “Now it is crumpled and dirty, Who still wants this $20?

Team members and kids: Raise hands

God Spot-Lesson:
Speaker: “My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson today.  No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the
decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value to God. Sometimes we think that we must be perfect, or that we should somehow clean up our lives before we can become a follower of Jesus.  God loves us no matter what because His Son took on all the bad things we have done, which we call sin so that we might have no sin.  Sin separates us from God, but because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and died for  ours sin, we are clean, pure, and are valuable.  Even if you are dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to God and God wants YOU!  He loves you and wants to be in a friendship with you.  You are valuable and anytime you feel like you are not, remember that God thinks you are. That is why He sent His Son Jesus to the world 2 000 year ago.  He thinks you are worth sacrificing His Son’s life in exchange for yours.    All you have to do is believe, and ask Jesus to be in your life.”  We challenge you to think about what has been shared and every time you see a R20 remember that God thinks you are valuable and special.  If you have any questions about what was shared I ask that you speak with some of these people on our team.  We would be glad to share with you about God.
